The Effect of Aerodynamic Interference on the Dynamic Response of Prismatic Structures
نویسنده
چکیده
The interference and proximity effects on the dynamic response of prismatic bluff bodies are investigated in a series of wind tunnel tests. The results show that the presence of a single, or a pair of upstream prisms of the same size can increase the interaction factor. The effects are more pronounced in a boundary layer flow with a lower level of turbulence, especially near the reduced velocity of 5. The measurements in the wake of the upstream prism suggest that in a boundary layer flow with low turbulence the wake has well-correlated fluctuations that cause adverse load effects on the downstream prism. The strength of these wake fluctuations is dampened by addition of incident turbulence. The study suggests that the mutual interference and proximity effects on the dynamics of tall buildings would be more pronounced for a group of tall buildings in coastal areas exposed to the oceanfront, followed by suburban locations and, to a lesser degree, urban

Loading Estimation of Flapping Wings under Aeroelastic Effect Using Finite Element Method
The aim of this paper is to provide an aeroelastic computational tool which determines the induced wing loads during flapping flight. For this purpose, a Finite Element (FE) code based on a four-node plate bending element formulation is developed to simulate the aeroelastic behavior of flapping wings in low incompressible flow. A quasi-steady aerodynamic model is incorporated into the aeroelast...
متن کاملEvaluation of 2-D Aeroelastic Models Based on Indicial Aerodynamic Theory and Vortex Lattice Method in Flutter and Gust Response Determination
Two 2-D aeroelastic models are presented here to determine instability boundary (flutter speed) and gust response of a typical section airfoil with degrees of freedom in pitch and plunge directions. To build these 2-D aeroelastic models, two different aerodynamic theories including Indicial Aerodynamic Theory and Vortex Lattice Method (VLM) have been employed. Also, a 3-D aeroelastic framework ...

In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to investigate the progressive collapse damage of prismatic thin walled metal columns with different regular cross sections, under the action of axial quasi-static and impact loads. The present work mainly focuses on implementation of some important factors which have been neglected in other studies. These factors include the effect of reducing impact...

This paper presents the effect of preload on nonlinear dynamic behavior of a rigid rotor supported by two-lobe aerodynamic noncircular journal bearing. A finite element method is employed to solve the Reynolds equation in static and dynamical states and the dynamical equations are solved using Runge-Kutta method. To analyze the behavior of the rotor center in the horizontal and vertical directi...
